School Zone and Pedestrian Safety

School is open again and one of the biggest concerns we have is the safety of the children walking to, from and around the school. Drivers on Rt 7, Main Street, do not pay attention to the 20 mph school zone speed limit. In fact the Sheriff's Office speed trailer gathered information showing the average speed past the school was 35 mph and the fastest speed recorded was 62 mph during a school day. This is an accident waiting to happen. There are no times on these signs which means that is the speed from 7am to 6pm on all school days . Please watch your speed as you drive by the school.
